Contagious and infectious faith, you can have it–and you should. But do you? Is your faith so contagious that those around you can’t help but become infected with your infectious faith? Let us take a few moments to think on this today.

We are living in the last days, when light is clashing with darkness. And great is the darkness, but how much greater is the light of our Messiah within us. But are we allowing His light to shine through us? Or are we hiding this eternal light of truth and allowing those around us to wander into the wilderness of the lost?

What does God’s Word have to say in Ephesians 5:11 from the Amplified Version of the Bible about this spiritual darkness? “Do not participate in the worthless and unproductive deeds of darkness, but instead expose them [by exemplifying personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character].” He equates this spiritual darkness with worthless and unproductive deeds. We are not to allow ourselves to be overcome by this darkness, but we are to expose these worthless and unproductive deeds. And how do we do this? We expose spiritual darkness by exemplifying personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character.

And just how do we exemplify personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character? By walking in the supernatural fruits of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” We walk in error when we think that these fruits of the Spirit are traits of a weakling. They are not weak character traits. Let’s talk about activating some of these traits in today’s world.

The first fruit of the Spirit listed is love. I’m telling you it is not easy to love people that hate and despise us. And today’s society is full of  hate-filled people. They don’t know love, and they can’t know love unless they encounter love, God, Himself. And they will never walk in His love if we do not shine with the infectious faith of love. And how will we reveal His love to them? John 13:35 tells us how, “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” We must manifest the supernatural change of repentance amongst one another if we are going to win the Lost to the Lord.

Another fruit of the Spirit is longsuffering. And we are going to have to strengthen our spiritual muscles with His character trait of longsuffering. We, the Church are entering into a time of persecution when we must be long in suffering amongst a loveless society so we can walk in another fruit of the Spirit–faithfulness. What do the Scriptures have to say about all of this? Let’s turn to Matthew 24: 9-10,12-13 to find out.

Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Matthew 24:9-10.

And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. Matthew 24:12-13.

And then we have to combine these with the other remaining fruits; joy in the midst of a grieving world, God’s peace while the people of this earth are at war against Jesus in us, and kindness instead of society’s cruelty. And we must not forget to live within the bounds of God’s goodness, gentleness and self-control while in the midst of a mean-spirited, harsh and out of control world. Not one of these fruits of the Spirit belongs to a weakling, but to one who knows who they are in Christ and oozes with the contagious and infectious faith of Christ, our Lord.
